MBC events, other events of interest to Moultoneers, The Moultoneer etc

When writing to event organisers, please include an SAE.

Listed below are some events of potential interest to Moultoneers – some organised specifically for Moulton Bicycle Club members, and some organised by others.

Cycling can be dangerous (so is walking, travelling by motor cycle, car, bus, train, boat and plane, and of course breathing and living!) and participants take part in the events advertised here and elsewhere entirely at their own risk. The organisers, the Club and its Officers cannot be held responsible for anything befalling anyone during or on the way to or from the events advertised here or anywhere else.

Anyone planning a Moulton ride must contact the Events Co-ordinator, Ian Wright.

Monthly rides

A number of members in different parts of the country have expressed an interest in regular rides in their areas. If anyone is interested in starting a monthly ride for Moultoneers in any part of the country, please let the Events Co-ordinator, Ian Wright, know. In the meantime we are listing some events which might be of interest to members in the areas concerned. These are not MBC events, but Moultoneers are made welcome – even if they are riding early Moultons with frames that don’t separate. Also MBC members in the Herts/North London area interested in supporting a regular ride please contact Ray Romer, Tel/Fax 0181-950-2909, 54 Rutherford Way, Bushey Heath, Herts WD2 1NJ to discuss options.

Origami Phoenix, Meriden

A to B/Folding Society/VCC ride from the centre of England. Normal meeting point is at Meriden Tea Rooms from 10.30am for an 11.00am start. Beautiful countryside, reasonably flat, and a wide choice of routes to provide variety each month. Good rail and road access. Every second Saturday of the month (unless this clashes with The Folder Forum, Bank Holidays or BoA). Now Origami Phoenix has its own web page!

Please check with the organiser, John Pinkerton, Tel: 0121 350 0685, before attending Origami rides, as the venue and starting time is occasionally altered for special events, particularly over the winter months.

Mud Dock, Bristol

Another A to B/Folding Society ride which takes place regularly on the first Saturday of each month. The starting point is the Mud Dock Cafe, The Grove, Bristol, near Temple Meads Station. This is usually quite a short ride in Bristol itself, but the format does vary sometimes to include longer excursions, involving train journeys (which are not so well suited to Moultons). More information can be found in A to B, or contact Gary Lovell,
